Haines--July 6-9

"Buffalo" was the campground host, a very interesting, friendly man.  

While in Haines, we drove to Mile 19 on the Haines Highway, to the Chilkat River flats, to see  eagles, but didn't see any there.  We did go for a nice walk though.  We walked around the town, I enjoyed the library with it's free internet and .25 cent book sale.  The RV park hosted a potluck supper in the evening, with fresh crab as the main course.  It was so good, and so messy.  We sat under the tent (on left of picture) and almost froze, it was so cold and rainy, but we thoroughly enjoyed the crab.  

 On Tuesday we drove to Chilcoot Lake to see eagles, and didn't see any there either. 

In the afternoon, we went to the American Bald Eagle Foundation Natural History Museum and spent some time there.  There is a large display of wildlife in the museum.

 This cruise ship was docked in Haines for the day.
In the evening we saw some eagles and sea otter from our campground.
