The trailer demolition project is finished. It was sitting under a roof that had been built over it

because the existing roof had failed. That was why we couldn’t just put wheels on the trailer

and pull it away. The roof that was built over it was free-standing (not attached the trailer), so it

wasn’t demolished as well. We burnt all the wood, threw the steel in the dumpster, parked the

frame of the trailer out in the back, and I think the aluminum siding is still worth something, so

it will probably be sold.

Later on in the week, we were working on getting the sprinkler system for this house working

again. When the old trailer that was on this yard was removed, many of the sprinkler heads

were driven over and were broken, and there were also some leaks in the water lines supplying

the sprinklers. We worked on replacing broken sprinkler heads, fixing leaky water lines, and this

week we plan on adding in a few new sprinkler lines to make sure the entire yard gets water.

The plan is to eventually have grass on this yard again – right now it’s all dirt.

This morning, I was working on picking up all the nails that didn’t get burnt when we burnt all

the wood from the old trailer. We had to smooth out the ash so that I could use a large magnet

on wheels to sweep over the area. We cleaned up a few hundred nails, but there’s probably still

more hidden in the ash because you can never get them all.

After morning coffee break, we also worked at the site where the old trailer was. The free-

standing roof had holes cut in it for the trailer vents, and we were working on removing the

vents, patching the holes, and shingling over the patched holes. That’s probably what we’ll be

doing after lunch, and after that it will be back to working on the sprinkler system.

On Friday we took a trip to Tucson to the Pima air and space museum.  

                                                

We went on a drive which had great views of the mountains and the cacti. We also went to a State park and walked some of the paths there.  There were all sorts of tables and displays set up, and we thought it was a sale of some kind.  But no, it was all about the animals in the park.  They even had some live lizards and snakes there, which I couldn't look at.

On Saturday we went to see a live show, featuring "The Southwest Surfers".  They played all oldies and a lot of Beach Boys music.
