We have always wanted to take the stagecoach tour around Tombstone, so on Saturday we did just that. We saw some buildings that we've never seen before, and the driver had a running commentary about all the historic events and buildings. Unfortunately, the sound system was bad, and the road very noisy, so we could understand very little of his presentation. But now we can say that we have had a ride in a stagecoach.
Later that day we took a drive out to Whitewater Draw, which is only about 5 miles from McNeal.
There are over 30,000 sandhill cranes resting and feeding there at its peak in January.
The cranes rest in the wetland area and fly off after sun up to feed in corn fields strewn across the area, and then fly back in between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. What a sound and sight, to see flocks of cranes flying over the fields. There are also ducks, owls and other birds here.
On our way home, we want to revisit these same sandhill cranes at the Platte River in Nebraska, that they use for a staging area on their migration North in March.
