Driving from Ouray to Canyon City, we saw many more beautiful places. Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is located just west of Canyon City. This bridge is one of the world's highest suspension bridges.
The bridge is a quarter of a mile long, and hangs 956 ft. above the Arkansas River. Fortunately, our admission included a ride on a gondola over the gorge. George didn't really enjoy that part very much!
Once on the other side, we walked around a bit, then walked across the bridge, back to the Visitor Center and parking lot.
There's a train that runs along the bottom of the gorge. Pictures just never show the depth!
We watched a short video that told of the fire that destroyed most of the buildings in 2013, and how they've rebuilt them.
We left to check into a hotel room, then came back again. I took the gondola across the gorge again, and got a picture of George on the bridge, as he was walking across to meet me on the other side.
