The Pikes Peak Cog Railway is the world's highest and longest cog railway, at 8.9 miles long, that ascends Pikes Peak to 14,115 feet. The train winds past waterfalls, through aspen and pine forest, and above the tree line to tundra and rock. It's average grade is 12% but sometimes hits a grade of 26%.
The ticket and reservation office is in Manitou Springs, CO.

Once up at the top, we went for fresh donuts and coffee. We were there for about 40 minutes.
This is one of the most prosperous gold mines in the world, and pulls out approximately a million dollars of gold every day.
The trip up took about an hour, going down was a little longer. It was definitely more relaxing than the drive up yesterday!
