We left home on January 26th. We had good traveling all the way down to Arizona. The first night we stayed in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The next day we traveled through Nebraska City to Topeka, and on the Kansas Turnpike through Witchita and on to Thackerville.
Thackerville is the home of the WinStar World Casino, but that was not our reason for staying there! My picture certainly doesn't do the size of it any justice, because it is just huge! We stayed at a hotel nearby, and were told that the only restaurants that were open in town, were at the casino, so that's where we went for supper. I guess we don't get out much, because we were totally overwhelmed with the vastness and opulence and smokiness, 100's of slot machines, gaming....WOW! We had a good Chinese supper, looked around a bit and went back to the hotel.
The next morning we drove through Fort Worth. There was a lot of construction and lots of traffic, and it was a pretty intense drive! We turned west at Georgetown, and went to Marble Falls, where Bruce and Martha Isaak were working at the "camp of the hills". We spent the afternoon and evening visiting with them, and stayed the night in a cabin at the camp.
Traveling on I-10 is really fast!! We certainly made lots of miles that day!
We stayed in El Paso, TX the last night on the road, and arrived in McNeal, AZ on Friday afternoon.
