Another week of work is over. George worked outside all week, continuing on the water shutoff valves, and pouring cement for a play structure that has been donated. A couple from Montana and their son, were here for a week, so on Tuesday, Dee and I baked cookies to stock the freezer in the "break" room, so the guys could enjoy something with their coffee in the mornings.
Our pickup has had some issues, so we're on a first name basis with the service guys at the Ford dealer in Sierra Vista. The latest was to replace the torque converter, which thankfully was a warranty job.
Last night there was a "Sweetheart" banquet here, and after the meal there was a short program. George was asked to sing with this group of men, and made quick use of the "mission barrel" to get his uniform for the evening.

On Saturday morning, we went to the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Refuge, which is only a few miles from here. There were a few birds there, but the real attraction at this time of year, is the sand hill cranes that winter here. They had obviously left for the day, so we decided to come back again.
We took a road going east of the NTM campus, and heading into the mountains. It's all gravel, and not great road, but very scenic and a nice drive. And then....we got a flat tire. So while George changed the tire, I took some pictures of the cacti and other vegetation. It didn't take long, and we were back on the road again.
This morning we went to the Elfrida Baptist Church. A number of the people from here attend there, and we felt quite at home.
This afternoon we went back to the Whitewater Draw, and the sand hill cranes were there in huge numbers. It was quite a sight to see!
