Homeward Bound

There was a lot  more beautiful scenery on the way home.  There were miles and miles of these red cliffs.

 We saw the Navajo Bridge, both the old one and the new one, which cross the Colorado River. 

 There are lots of strange rock formations.  This is at Cliff Dwellers.

 Monument Valley 

 We drove through the park on extremely bad, dirt road.  The speed limit is 15 m.p.h., but at that speed, you could severely damage your vehicle.  It was a total of 17 miles, and it took us an hour to go through. The monuments are huge and impressive. 

 As we approached this cliff, we realized we were going in, not around.  The switch backs were really tight, speed limit often 5 m.p.h.  Quite an adventure!

 There were a few tunnels on I-70 west of Denver.  We thought this one must be at least 2 miles long.

 The oncoming traffic is above us. 

And finally, an introduction back into winter.  West of Denver we encountered heavy snow and very slippery roads.  The traffic was down to a crawl for about 2 hours, before we came to lower elevation, and the snow turned to rain.

We arrived home on Sunday after a great 5+ weeks away.
