Today we participated in the AWANA Annual Grand Prix at the church we attend when we're in McNeal. The 'clubbers' are each given a package which includes a block of wood, axles and wheels, and then they design and make a car. They are judged in different categories, and are then raced.
George and I were asked to be judges, along with 4 other people. The cars were judged in a few different categories, some as race cars, and some as novelty cars.
Once they were judged, they went to the pit crew. They added weights to the cars (if the child wanted it to have weights), so they would all be the same weight.
The race track was set up from the front stage. The track is just a straight downhill track, similar to a hot wheels track. Lots of cheering and competition to see whose car would win. It was a fun day for the kids!
